  • Waterway groups gather for first LockFest!

    The Pittsburgh District and its waterways partners are hosting the first ever water safety LockFest 2017. At the event, attendees will learn how to lock through navigation facilities and watch live locking demonstrations, discover water safety tips, talk to tow operators, brush up on boating regulations, and gain knowledge on how to navigate our rivers safely. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will attend and exhibits from our partners will be available.
  • USACE Galveston District awards small business contract for routine testing of dredged material

    GALVESTON, Texas (April 24, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a five-year Environmental Services Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract to ANAMAR Environmental Consulting Inc., a woman-owned small business, in the amount of $7,000,000 for dredged material evaluation to include collection and analyses of water and sediment samples from the federally-maintained navigation channels and off-shore dredge material disposal sites.
  • UPDATE - Vilano Beach receives much needed sand

    A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredging project is placing sand on critically eroded areas of Vilano Beach; however, the project will not cover as much of the beach as originally anticipated.
  • Parents ‘show and tell’ on ‘Take Your Kids to Work Day’

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 14, 2017) – Excited youngsters eagerly donned life jackets today for the chance to learn about navigation and water safety on board several Corps of Engineers boats docked on the Cumberland River at Music City’s Riverfront. Throughout the day they participated in lots of fun activities, learned about Nashville District operations and missions, and their parents did a lot of “show and tell” on “Take Your Kids to Work Day.”
  • Corps advises mariners of Braddock delays during repair work

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District is advising mariners that scheduled maintenance is ongoing at Braddock Lock and Dam on the Monongahela River and long delays for locking through are likely.
  • Massive Cross Culverts Installed at Charleroi Lock and Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District successfully installed the two massive precast concrete cross culverts in the new middle wall at Monongahela River Lock and Dam 4 at Charleroi near Pittsburgh, Pa., Jan. 31.
  • John Day Dam’s navigation lock reopens to river traffic; other locks still on track with previously announced schedules

    The navigation lock at John Day Dam, near Rufus, Oregon, reopened to river traffic late Saturday night, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials in the Portland District announced.
  • Corps completes CI Harbor dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District completed maintenance dredging at Channel Islands Harbor here Feb. 27 after beginning work in late December 2016.
