  • Memphis District Commander tours several project sites

    Memphis District Commander Col. Zachary Miller had a busy day June 17 kicking off a summer full of visiting several of the district's project sites in our area of responsibility. Encompassing almost 25,000 square miles, the Memphis District is responsible for federal civil works projects in portions of six states - Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.

  • Corps awards contract to complete levee repairs on the Missouri River L-536 levee system north of Corning, Missouri

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,  Omaha District, awarded a $8.74 million construction contract to AECOM Technical Services, Inc. of Los Angeles, California, Tuesday, to close the remaining breaches and making final repairs on the Missouri River L-536 levee system north of Corning, Missouri.  The L-536 system is the last remaining Missouri River levee damaged by the March 2019 flood event in need of full repair.

  • USACE awards contract to complete levee repairs on the Pender – Logan Creek Right Bank Levee System in Pender, Nebraska.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, awarded a $7.1 million construction contract Wednesday to Michels Corporation of Brownsville, Wisconsin, to repair the Pender – Logan Creek Right Bank levee system in Pender, Nebraska. This is the 17th contract the Omaha District has awarded to repair the tributary systems damaged during the March 2019 flood. This contract will fully repair this damaged levee system.

  • Agreement signed to help stop flooding in Detroit

    DETROIT – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has signed an agreement to assist the City of Detroit with direct assistance to fight against flood events expected during this upcoming spring and summer seasons. The cooperation agreement, signed electronically in light of COVID-19, will provide direct assistance to the City of Detroit in the Jefferson-Chalmers and Jefferson Village neighborhoods. “Even while the Detroit District and the Corps nation-wide is surging to help the nation respond to this pandemic, we're working diligently to help the City of Detroit and State of Michigan protect our communities from historically high water levels,” said Lt. Col. Greg Turner, district engineer, Detroit District.

  • Corps updates progress on Lollie Levee

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil engineers Elmo Webb and Jonathan Palmer spoke to a Local Emergency Planning Committee in Conway Arkansas, recently about what caused the near breach of the Faulkner County Levee, known locally as the Lollie Levee.
