  • 22-011 Sections of the Lewiston Levee Trail to be closed temporarily for hazard tree removal

    Lewiston, Idaho. – The Lower Granite Natural Resources Management Office, part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District, will be closing sections of the Lewiston Levee Trail between Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Thursday Feb. 24 for hazard tree removal.

  • USACE awards $40.9 million construction contract for Pocket-area levee improvements

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $40.9 million construction contract on December 22, 2021, to Maloney Odin Joint Venture of Novato, for 2 miles of levee improvements along the Sacramento River East Levee in Sacramento’s Pocket neighborhood. Construction in 2022 will entail installation of a seepage cutoff wall from Surfside Way at the northern end of down to Sump 132 at the Pocket Canal on the southern end.

  • USACE, FEMA to host series of virtual, levee safety workshops

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that USACE and FEMA will be offering a series of nine virtual workshop on levee safety throughout January and February 2022 with the first workshop beginning, Jan. 18 from 12 –4 p.m. CST.

  • Final ribbon-cuttings close out two-day celebration blitz

    To close out the two-day sprint across five states, the Memphis District held two final ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Nov. 18, 2021. Both events celebrated construction projects completed in Arkansas and Missouri.

  • Groundbreaking, ribbon-cutting, to celebrate project start, completion

    The Memphis District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 17, 2021, to celebrate two critical construction projects in Tennessee and Kentucky. District Commander Col. Zachary Miller, district leadership, and the project delivery team members met with project partners in Ridgely, Tennessee, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebratory event was held to acknowledge the completion of an essential levee restoration and berm construction project. Immediately following the ceremony, district leadership and project team members traveled to the event site and met with the project partner in Hickman, Kentucky, for a groundbreaking.

  • Substantial completion of Nash Relief Well Rehabilitation

    Congratulations to Memphis District project delivery team members for their recent work to rehabilitate 128 existing relief wells just south of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

  • Kansas City District Corps urges all to monitor Missouri River conditions

    The Kansas City District wants all stakeholders - public, levee districts, local and state authorities - to pay close attention to conditions on the Missouri River. Water levels are high now in many locations and are forecasted to get higher.

  • Chief’s Report signed for Lower Cache Creek flood risk management project

    A plan to improve levees near the City of Woodland and construct new levees north of the city to help prevent Lower Cache Creek from flooding into the developed portions of Woodland was signed June 21, 2021, by Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, commanding general for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • 21-031 Goats coming to graze at Mill Creek

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Walla Walla District will be using a herd of goats to remove weeds and other vegetation growing on levees that border the creek shoreline extending from the Mill Creek diversion dam downstream to the metal division works foot bridge near the Mill Creek Office. They are scheduled to arrive June 3.
