    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 10, 2020) – As part of a phased approach for reopening recreation facilities following COVID-19 closures, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is opening additional Corps-managed day use recreation areas and amenities on June 12, 2020.

  • Corps to temporarily reduce flows at Orwell Dam

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will be reducing flows from Orwell Dam, near Fergus Falls, Minnesota, starting at 7 a.m. on June 9, in order to allow Otter Tail County staff to relocate mussels for a bridge replacement project downstream of the dam.
  • Coralville Lake Closes West Overlook Day Use Boat Ramp

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has closed the West Overlook Day Use Boat Ramp at Coralville Lake until further notice. The closure was deemed necessary to evaluate safety concerns related to the boat ramp.
  • Vicksburg District announces changes to campgrounds length-of-stay policy at Mississippi lakes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has announced changes to the length-of-stay policy at its campgrounds at its Mississippi lakes – Arkabutla, Enid, Grenada and Sardis – that have gone into effect as of June 1.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed some facilities at three John Day Lock & Dam recreation sites due to a severe storm that caused extensive damage Saturday.
  • USACE-Albuquerque District to expand phased reopening of lakes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Albuquerque District announced May 29, 2020, that two USACE-managed lakes in New Mexico (Conchas and Santa Rosa lakes) have begun a phased reopening, and the boat ramp at Abiquiu Lake will be open as of May 30.

    Living with dams is a shared responsibility and requires constant assessment, continuous communication and engagement with local public and emergency management agencies. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, operates and manages 18 dams in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Flood control serves as the primary purpose of these dams. Corps reservoirs provide many other benefits including recreation activities.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is preparing to reopen camping at its parks in eastern North Dakota, Minnesota and western Wisconsin, June 1.
  • Corps campgrounds to reopen June 1 along the Mississippi River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District announces campgrounds managed by the Mississippi River Project will reopen June 1 with the exception of Grant River in Potosi, Wisconsin. Online reservations through www.recreation.gov are required for all sites and same day reservations are now permitted.
