Lt. Gov. visits Kentucky Lock Addition Project

GRAND RIVERS, Ky., Tenn. (Oct. 14, 2016) –The Kentucky lieutenant governor and 12 board members from the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority visited the Kentucky Lock Addition Project at Kentucky Lake and toured the Barkley Dam, Power Plant on the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers in Grand Rivers, Ky. Oct. 13., to get a close overview of the construction.

Nashville District recognizes fleet achievements ahead of reorganization

(Aug. 18, 2016) – The repair fleet in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, a mainstay of the Twin Rivers since the 1800s when crews first began opening the region’s waterways to navigation onboard canoes, flatboats and keelboats, is marking the end of an era as people and resources are reorganized into a regional light fleet Oct. 1, 2016.

NR 16-021: Public invited to Barkley Dam 50th Anniversary commemoration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2016) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is inviting the public to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Barkley Dam during a ceremony 11 a.m. Aug. 20, 2016 at the Spillway Shelter below the dam. The project is named after the late Alben W. Barkley, attorney, county judge, United States senator, and 35th vice president of the United States.
