    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces visitor access to Lock and Dam 16 will be restricted starting May 10 due to road construction. The entrance to the visitor area, including the observation platform and restroom facility will not be accessible during the closure. Construction is expected to last up to one month.

  • Gavins Point Dam powerplant generators will be shut down for inspection

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announces that all three generators at the Gavins Point Dam powerplant near Yankton, South Dakota, will be shut down to allow for the underwater inspection of the draft tube gate slots on the downstream side of the powerplant. During this outage, all 14 spillway gates will be open to meet the authorized purposes downstream.

    Mark Twain Lake, May 7, 2021 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake announces that there will be temporary construction zones in areas with boat ramps and day use collection areas as contractors install concrete pads that will house the new Automated fee machines. Construction begins on Monday, May 10, 2021. Please obey all traffic laws and pay attention to construction and safety signs in the area. Be safe and watch for construction workers and their equipment. Areas that will be impacted are:

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nimrod-Blue Mountain Project Office is advising landowners adjacent to public lands around Nimrod and Blue Mountain lakes that contract maintenance crews will be conducting boundary line maintenance on a 20-mile section of government boundary.
  • BOEM, Army Corps, and State of Maryland Enter Agreement for Sand Resources

    The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District (Corps) and the state of Maryland Department of Natural Resources have entered into an agreement allowing the Corps to use sand from the Outer Continental Shelf for scheduled beach nourishment as part of its Atlantic Coast of Maryland Shoreline Protection Project.
