  • USACE to temporarily close boat ramp at Devils Fork Park

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is temporarily closing the boat ramp at Devils Fork Park on Nov. 8 and 9 so construction crews can re-surface the lower parking lot near the boat ramp. USACE asks boaters to use the corrugated boat ramps at nearby parks until the work is complete. 

  • Army Corps shares 2023 plan for Francis E. Walter Dam recreational water releases

    The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District shared the 2023 Recreation Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam. The plan specifies dates and actions associated with whitewater and fishing releases from the dam from late March to early October of 2023. USACE coordinates the plan with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

  • Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Veterans Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities (group picnic shelters) and events. Other agencies that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District invites partners, stakeholders, and the public to join us for the release of the 2022 Integrated Delivery Schedule (IDS) at a virtual public engagement workshop sponsored by the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration (SFER) Task Force on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The IDS provides the roadmap for sequencing of planning, design, construction and operations of both federal and state projects related to Everglades restoration.   • Lock and Dam 21 visitor overlook to close temporarily for winter repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces the visitor overlook and parking area at Lock and Dam 21 in Quincy, Illinois, will be closed to the public starting Monday, Nov. 14, to facilitate concrete repairs around the lock. Construction activities are estimated to conclude mid-March 2023. The boat ramp downstream of Lock 21 will remain available for public use during this time.
