    Researchers with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) are experimenting on the phytostabilization potential and biomonitoring of heavy metals, specifically selenium and arsenic that come from contaminated soil and groundwater at coal combustion residuals (CCRs) storage sites.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, awarded a construction contract for Kissimmee River Restoration (KRR) Project Navigational Warning Signage, located in Okeechobee and Highlands Counties, Florida. The non-Federal sponsor for the Kissimmee River Restoration Project is the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). USACE awarded the contract for $2,645,604.74 to Eagle Engineering & Land Development, Inc., Naples, Florida, on September 28, 2023.

  • Evaluation of Venturi Pump Blower Attachment Prototype

    Purpose: The US Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) tasked the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) with (1) developing a prototype venturi pump blower attachment for removing standing water from open excavations and (2) comparing its performance to that of traditional pumps. This technical note summarizes testing conducted as a part of the development of the prototype and provides analysis and conclusions based on the results.
  • Portion of Prairie Flower Campground roadway to close for resurfacing

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces a portion of the road which serves as part of the Neal Smith Trail in Prairie Flower Campground at Saylorville Lake will temporarily close for resurfacing starting Oct. 16. The closure will extend from the Prairie Flower Campground entrance building, north to where the road ends and becomes the northernmost entry point for the trail. The closure is anticipated to last until Nov. 3.
