    Army Corps, NJDEP sign cost-sharing agreement to officially begin a reevaluation of comprehensive flood risk management solutions for the Passaic River Basin

    NEW YORK – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection have both signed a cost-sharing agreement that officially begins the Passaic River Basin General Reevaluation Study, analyzing and comparing flood risk management alternatives for communities throughout the basin. The reevaluation is one of the 15 recommendations made by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Passaic River Flood Advisory Commission.

    Ice Harbor 50th Anniversary celebration and Open House Saturday

    The public is invited to Saturday’s 50th anniversary celebration of completion of construction of Ice Harbor Lock and Dam near Burbank. Ice Harbor was dedicated on May 9, 1962, by then-Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson after several years of construction by the Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its contractors.

    Corps begins Thorpe Road bridge construction

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District began construction of the Thorpe Road bridge over the Rio de Flag culvert June 11. The bridge, designed by the city, will ensure residents can transit North Thorpe Road and allow the wash beneath the bridge to safely convey water flows through the city.
