  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dewaters Chouteau Lock for Repairs

    On Tuesday August 28, members of the media, stakeholders, and invited guests will have a rare opportunity to visit Chouteau Lock and Dam and see inside an empty lock chamber. The Corps of Engineers maintenance crews from Tulsa and Little Rock Districts will be working to install a new pintle ball that supports and allows a lock gate to open and close.

    WASHINGTON -- President Obama’s administration announced a new design, improved navigation tools and expanded content for Recreation.Gov, the interagency website that guides visitors to 90,000 sites on federal lands such as national parks, wildlife refuges, waterways, forests and recreation areas. These recreation areas include sites within the 78,000 square mile boundaries of the Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • 17 Central Valley levee systems lose eligibility for federal rehab assistance

    A total of 17 levee systems in or near Sacramento, Stockton, Chester, and Knights Landing and Gustine are now ineligible for federal rehabilitation assistance after a temporary agreement between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state of California extending eligibility for deficient levees expired in June.
