    USACE Galveston District awards $3 million small business contract for geotechnical services

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 4, 2012) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a small business contract to Baton Rouge, La.-based Quaternary Resource Investigations LLC in the estimated amount of $3 million for geotechnical services including soils investigations (core borings, soils sampling) and lab testing.

    Final 2012 FNOD Restoration Advisory Board meets Dec. 6

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host its final 2012 quarterly meeting of the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot, or FNOD, Restoration Advisory Board Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at the Courtyard Marriott located at 8060 Harbour View Boulevard in Suffolk, Va.

    Taking the Wounded Warrior recovery process a step further

    Once a service member is wounded, in battle or the line of duty, they are taken to a military hospital to recover. Those hospitals are built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as part of its military construction program. Now, in the USACE Southwestern Division, there are plans for that recovery process to evolve from the hospital to a special cottage at a Corps lake to allow invisible wounds to heal.
