  • Army Corps to begin repairing Rehoboth Beach outfall pipes

    Philadelphia, Pa. (Feb. 4, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District and its contractor will begin repairing and extending outfall pipes at Rehoboth Beach, DE later this month. Work consists of extending three outfall pipes at Laurel Street, Delaware Avenue and Rehoboth Avenue. The pipes drain storm water into the ocean. Extending the pipes will enable USACE and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to complete future beachfill projects without the risk of partially clogging the outfall pipes.

  • Kennedy Flame to receive upgrades

    – The Norfolk District awarded a Maryland company on Jan. 31 a contract to upgrade the John F. Kennedy eternal flame at Arlington National Cemetery. Meltech Corporation Inc. of Landover, Md., will be responsible for performing the approximately $350,000 upgrade to the flame in early spring.

  • Altus Air Force Base JP8 Fuel Line Reestablished

    ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District is scheduled to begin replacing a Jet Propellant 8 fuel line here that will increase ground refueling capabilities for KC-135 Stratotankers, Jan. 23. The construction project will establish an eight-inch steel pipeline, which will connect the bulk fuel storage area to the tanker ramp, providing a more reliable and efficient way to refuel.
