  • Corps activates Emergency Operations Center to provide flood-fight support

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 31) – In response to National Weather Service forecasts predicting the potential for major flooding in areas along the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers and their tributaries, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, activated its Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday, May 28. The District has also opened its remote Emergency Operations Center in the Quincy, Ill., area May 30, to more quickly address flood response needs.
  • Long-term release schedule for Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs

    Releases from Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs will remain at 1200 cubic feet per second longer than expected due to continued high runoff into the reservoirs. Earlier this year, releases from the reservoirs were expected to fall below 1200 cfs in early June. However, during the last 30 days above normal rainfall has occurred in much of the James River and Pipestem Creek basins upstream of the reservoirs.
  • Corps expects lower Rogue water levels this summer

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir regulators expect that water levels at Corps reservoirs in the Rogue River Basin will be lower this summer than the past few years, and the Corps will probably release less water into the Rogue and Applegate rivers.
  • Corps closing additional Mississippi River locks

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – (May 31) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will be closing four additional locks on the Mississippi River due to high river levels. The closures are necessary as the Mississippi River overtops lock gates making the locks inoperable.

    ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District is responding to flooding on the Mississippi River by activating its Emergency Operations Center in St. Louis and closing locks on the Mississippi River.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, reopened its three Minneapolis locks to recreation traffic early this morning, May 31.
  • Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove not part of proposed dredging project at Lake Worth Inlet

    Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove are two of 10 proposed locations for sea grass and hardbottom mitigation due to impacts of the proposed widening and deepening of the Port of Palm Beach. Dredging of Turtle Cove is neither part of the proposed project nor part of the mitigation plan.
