    CORPS SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR LAKE CLEANUP

    Rogers, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake Project Office is looking for volunteers to join in and help clean up Beaver Lake during the Annual Beaver Lake Cleanup. Volunteers should check-in by 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Prairie Creek, Hickory Creek, Rocky Branch, Lost Bridge North or Dam Site Lake parks.

    Corps announces changes to Lock Schedules on the Alabama River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today navigation lock changes on the Alabama River. Beginning the week of October 6, 2013 all navigation locks on the Alabama River will change to fall/winter schedules. R. F. Henry, Millers Ferry, and Claiborne Locks will change to Monday-Thursday operations, 6 a.m.- 4 p.m. Central Standard Time. This schedule will continue until March 2014.

    Nebraska Post-flood and Flood Protection Permitting

    To address National Weather Service forecasts for river levels along the South Platte and Platte rivers in Nebraska to be in or above flood stage, landowners may decide to take action they believe is necessary to protect property. Where possible, the public should contact the Nebraska Regulatory Office (402)896-0896 for work associated with flood protection and repair work for flood damaged areas performed in waters of the U.S. within the State of Nebraska and the Omaha District. A flood emergency does not remove the landowner's responsibility to obtain a Section 404 permit when one is required.

    Gathright Dam to conduct fourth pulse release of 2013

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will conduct a pulse release at Gathright Dam, near Covington, Va., on Tuesday, Sept. 24, beginning at approximately 6 a.m. The water release will gradually increase and peak at 3,500 cubic feet per second by 9 a.m.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – Col. Daniel C. Koprowski, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, signed a ‘Finding of No Significant Impact’ for a final Environmental Assessment, or EA, Sept. 19, completed for the proposed Fargo, N.D./Moorhead, Minn., Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project.
