    SWD team earns Gold Hermes Creative Award for JFK 50th series

    DALLAS—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division and two of its associated Districts earned a Gold Award from the Hermes Creative Awards Competition for their special coverage series “The JFK 50th Anniversary and the Army Corps of Engineers.” Recognized by the award were Edward Rivera and Andre Mayeaux, Fort Worth District Public Affairs, for feature article and video of 57-year Fort Worth District employee remembering JFK assassination; Kent Cummins, formerly of the Little Rock District Public Affairs Office, for JFK dedication of Greers Ferry Dam feature article; and Martie Cenkci, Southwestern Division Public Affairs Office, for commentary and feature articles.     Corps promotes wetlands awareness to elementary students

    Hands were thrown upward toward the classroom ceiling when sixth-grade students answered whether they have visited Potter Marsh, Connors Bog or took a trip on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. These public recreational sites are either adjacent to waters of the United States or are local wetlands within the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District’s regulatory program.

    14-031 Dworshak to decrease discharge flows tonight at midnight plus Saturday midnight to begin refilling reservoir; Boaters and anglers should remain alert to changes in water elevation and flow

    Discharge flows from Dworshak Dam into the North Fork of Clearwater River will be decreased late Friday night and again on Sunday morning to begin refilling Dworshak Reservoir, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-management officials. Flows will decrease Friday night at midnight from approximately 10,700 c.f.s. (cubic feet per second) to about 5,000 c.f.s. At midnight on Saturday, flows will be further reduced from 5,000 c.f.s. to about 2,400 c.f.s.

Day with an Engineer allowed students considering careers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics to hear from professionals and learn more about these fields.
