    Venice Beach renourishment halted due to mechanical problem

    Jacksonville, Fla. – Sand placement on Venice Beach is temporarily delayed by a mechanical problem that’s caused the shutdown of dredging operations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today. Dredging is tentatively scheduled to resume in early March.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District released a draft feasibility report and environmental assessment today that tentatively selects a plan to establish a deep-water port in Nome to support increased vessel traffic and economic development in the Arctic.

    MKARNS - Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting NM 23 through NM 24. Contractors for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be transporting dredged material by barge across the channel in this area.

    GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 19, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $4,106,760 to Southern Contracting LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, to perform containment dike raising on Alexander Island Placement Area, located along the Houston Ship Channel.

    Honolulu District Engineers Participate in 2015 National Engineers Week Activities

    More than 200 engineers and friends of the 17 organizations within the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies plus invited local VIPs and dignitaries and engineers from the Honolulu District are expected to gather at the Hale Koa's Banyan Tree Showroom Feb. 24 for a luncheon to kick off Engineers Week 2015, which runs Feb. 22-28. The 2015 Engineers Week theme is “Discover Engineering!” and the local theme is “sustainability.”
