    Shell Creek levee construction project ribbon cutting event scheduled

    In partnership with the city of Schuyler, Neb. and the Lower Platte North Natural Resources District, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed construction of a 2.2-mile levee along Shell Creek, north and east of Schuyler. This milestone will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the site of the new levee along Old Highway 30 (now Road E) near East 22nd Street by the old drive-in movie theatre.

However, there were no video cameras rolling as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District conducted an environmental cleanup project in the tundra-covered foothills of the Brooks Range.

    Arctic Cleanup: Tough conditions no match for test well remediation

    Since 2009, more than 7,800 tons of contaminated soil polluted the remote location of Test Well No. 9 near Umiat, a historic oil exploratory base camp. The conditions are harsh with the site located more than 100 miles from the nearest road system in the National Petroleum Reserve – Alaska. Operations at the site officially completed this year.

    MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 15-11 Temporary Suspension of Recreational Lock Closures

    MKARNS - The Monday through Thursday recreational vessel lock closures for maintenance at Locks 03 - 13 will be temporarily suspended June 22 through June 28, 2015 for the Big Bass Bonanza fishing tournament along the Arkansas section of the Arkansas River.
