    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will seek public review and comment on a proposal by Tesoro Savage Petroleum Terminal, LLC, to construct an export terminal located in the Columbia River at the Port of Vancouver, in Clark County, Washington.

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 4, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District celebrated the U.S. Army’s and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 240th birthdays with an awards ceremony to induct a USACE Galveston District retiree into the Gallery of Distinguished Civilian Employees, name the Employee, Engineer, Regulator and Supervisor of the Year as well as to honor staff for their contributions to the community, state and nation.
  • Flows to Caloosahatchee Estuary to be reduced

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has announced a slight reduction in flows for its next pulse release to the Caloosahatchee Estuary. The new target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary will be a seven-day average of 650 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock (S-79) near Fort Myers. No water from the lake is expected to be released through St. Lucie Lock (S-80) near Stuart.

  • Students share STEM ambitions with USACE

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District personnel hosted the STEM Essay Contest winners from Wiesbaden and Sembach middle schools Thursday at the Amelia Earhart Center in Wiesbaden, Germany. The first-place winners from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades participated in a day of hands-on activities, presentations, a mock ribbon-cutting ceremony and construction-site scavenger hunt.
  • USACE bolsters European reassurance effort

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District will manage more construction in Eastern and Central Europe this year than it has in the past 40 years combined. Over the next three years, the district will execute up to 145 military construction and facilities sustainment, restoration and modernization projects in Poland, the Baltics and Balkans as part of the $1 billion European Reassurance Initiative to support NATO allies and U.S. partners in the region.
  • Cherry Creek Dam Crest Road to close for dam safety instrumentation and maintenance project

    The Crest Road at Cherry Creek Dam will be closed from June 22 through July 12 to accommodate work that will be taking place adjacent to the crest road. The bike path at the downstream toe of the dam will remain open through construction. Crews will install two new groundwater observation wells, known as piezometers and remove 14 existing piezometers that are more than 60 years old from service and are no longer functional or needed. Crews will also be performing maintenance work on relief wells along the toe of the dam.
