    USACE Galveston District awards $4.8 million maintenance dredging contract for Houston Ship Channel

    GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 30, 2015) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract in the amount of $4,848,500 to Weeks Marine Inc. for maintenance dredging of the Houston Ship Channel from Exxon to Carpenters Bayou in Harris County, Texas.

    Omaha District project manager, Steve Rothe, retires after nearly four decades of public service

    Omaha District project manager, Steve Rothe, retires after nearly four decades of public service. Over the past 36 years, Steve Rothe’s contribution to the Omaha District’s ecosystem restoration mission has been second to none. Drawing on his undergraduate and graduate-level education in Biology and experience as a Biology Teacher with the Peace Corps in Kenya, Steve launched his career with the Corps as an Environmental Resources Specialist in the Environmental Analysis Branch of the Omaha District’s Planning Division in 1979.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Releases Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Water Control Manual for Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Basin for Public Review and Comment

    MOBILE, Ala.-– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District, has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and Water Control Manual (WCM) for the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River Basin (ACF) for public review and comment. As part of that review and comment process, USACE will hold five public open houses during the last week of October and the first week of November.

    Landfarming offers viable environmental cleanup solution in the Arctic
