• Swimming beach open at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has reopened the swimming beach at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area on the Caloosahatchee River.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will temporarily close Camp Street at Jefferson Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project (SELA).
  • Corps reminds visitors, lakeside residents of regulations at Beaver Lake

    ROGERS, Ark. - Army Corps of Engineers officials ask those living near Beaver Lake to avoid unauthorized work on public property. They also remind lake users and landowners adjacent to the lake that tying up boats along the shoreline and operating vehicles off authorized roadways on public property is prohibited.
  • Compensatory wetland mitigation method available for public comment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District is seeking comment on the proposed Louisiana Wetlands Rapid Assessment Method (LRAM), a new methodology developed by the Army Corps for determining compensatory wetland mitigation requirements in South Louisiana.
  • Contract awarded for adaptive management at Sandy Point Bend chute complex

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District has awarded a $577,000 contract to Western Contracting of Sioux City, Iowa for adaptive management at the Sandy Point Bend chute complex in Harrison County, Iowa. Work will begin in late October with completion expected by the end of December 2015.
  • Bear Creek Reservoir to be lowered for inspection and repair

    Bear Creek Reservoir near Lakewood, Colorado, will be lowered 5 feet from the normal operating pool elevation of 5,558 feet to allow for inspection and repair work at Bear Creek Dam. Starting Friday, October 23, releases will be around 50 cubic feet per second (cfs) which fall within channel capacity and are significantly less than the maximum summer release of 500 cfs. The drawdown is expected to take about a week.
  • 15-070 Dworshak Dam discharge flows to fluctuate Thursday, Oct. 22

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Water discharge from Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho, will temporarily fluctuate on Thursday, Oct. 22, from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff performs a Unit 2 test. Dworshak flows will increase and decrease between 1,500 cfs (cubic feet per second) and 2,800 cfs, causing the elevation stage in the Clearwater River to fluctuate no more than 1-foot per hour. Minimum operation discharge of 1,500 cfs will resume at about 5 p.m. Corps officials advise boaters, anglers and other people using waterways both in Dworshak Reservoir and below the dam on the Clearwater River to be alert to changes in water elevation and volume of flow.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District will restrict access to Burnsville Dam in Burnsville, W.Va., due to construction on the top of the dam that begins this week. Four block structures are being built to house motors.
