• Lake Red Rock accepting applications for Wheelin’ Sportsmen Turkey Hunt

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with the Red Rock Lake Association and the Mahaska Fan Club Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will be hosting its first annual Lake Red Rock Wheelin’ Sportsmen Turkey Hunt on April 23rd 2016. The hunt will pair disabled individuals with volunteer guides from the NWTF in hopes of bagging a turkey and having a great time in the outdoors.

  • Addicks and Barker Construction Project updates: Hike and bike trail closures

    GALVESTON, Texas (March 15, 2016) ¬– The first impacts to the hike and bike trail system associated with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Addicks and Barker Dam Safety Construction Project will begin April 1, 2016 with the temporary closure of the hike and bike trail located on the downstream side of the dam at the water control structure, until work is complete in the spring of 2019. The temporary closure will also include the gravel maintenance road atop of Addicks Dam.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking public comments for two proposed new dredging locations on the Mississippi River within the navigation channel in Pool 10, adjacent to Clayton County, Iowa, and Grant County, Wisconsin.
  • Changes coming to overnight camping at Lake Oahe

    Changes were made to the campsite reservation and fee collection to provide an easier process for visitors and staff. Of the 30 campsites at the Hazelton Recreation Area Campground, 26 are now reservable online. The recreation season will run from May 1 to September 30.

    Several changes are coming to campsites operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. Changes include how visitors will reserve and pay for campsites. “To ensure compliance with recent changes in USACE regulations for recreation use fees, changes were made to the campsite reservation and fee collection process, resulting in an easier process for visitors and staff. We've had lots of requests to be able to make reservations for either Wolf Creek or East Totten Trail Campgrounds and now our visitors will have that opportunity,” said Nathan Busche, a Natural Resource Specialist at Lake Sakakawea. The recreation season will run from May 15 to September 15.
