    SUFFOLK, Va. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host their quarterly public meeting regarding restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot Thursday. The Restoration Advisory Board meeting; which will take place at the Courtyard Marriott, located at 8060 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk at 6:15 p.m.; will feature discussions regarding the latest cleanup progress at the Superfund site.
  • USACE halts gated flood releases from Somerville Dam

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Somerville Lake Dam announce they have suspended all gated flood releases due to the current weather pattern, continuing rains and current Brazos River flows. With the current lake elevation, the roadway across the uncontrolled spillway is inundated and has been closed.
  • Corps of Engineers reduce water releases from Canyon Lake through Memorial Day

    FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives at Canyon Lake have announced they will begin releasing water from the dam at a rate of 400 cubic feet per second today. The outflows will remain at 400cfs through the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority will increase flows to 1,100cfs Monday evening after 7 p.m.
  • Corps completes Nawghaw Poa Road at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area

    The Bureau of Land Management Southern Nevada District hosted a grand opening of Nawghaw Poa Road and a temporary visitor contact station at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area May 19.
  • Army Corps shares Oyster Creek navigation data after completing dredging project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District completed maintenance dredging operations at Oyster Creek channel near Barnegat Inlet this Spring and recently posted updated navigation data for boaters. The government dredge Currituck cleared a shoal from a narrow area between channel markers 37 and 40. The U.S. Coast Guard has since placed two temporary buoys (39A and 41) and moved marker 38A to direct boaters to deeper water in the area.
  • Corps of Engineers awards $48 million contract for Central Treatment Plant upgrades in Idaho’s Silver Valley

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a contract May 26 to upgrade and expand the currently operating Central Treatment Plant at the Bunker Hill Superfund site near Kellogg, Idaho. The work is part of a required remedial action under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s larger efforts to clean up toxic contamination in the basin.

  • Draft EIS and public meetings scheduled for Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project in MT

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation have made available the draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project and have scheduled two public meetings in June to solicit comments on the draft EIS. The draft EIS analyzes the potential effects associated with the proposed action to improve fish passage for pallid sturgeon and other native fish at the Intake Diversion Dam, continue the viable and effective operation of the Lower Yellowstone Project, and contribute to ecosystem restoration. Comments must be postmarked or received by July 18, 2016.
