• Summersville Dam to Celebrate 50 Years of Service on Aug. 19

    The Summersville Dam in Summersville, W.Va., will host a special ceremony Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. to observe the 50th Anniversary and Rededication of the projected built and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District.
  • CORPS CLOSES SWIM BEACH IN DAM SITE PARK ON GREERS FERRY LAKE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Greers Ferry Project Office has closed the day use swim beach in Dam Site Park on Greers Ferry Lake until further notice. The beach is located on the right side of the causeway heading to “Trouble Island” in Dam Site Park. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.
  • Corps extends Millwood Lake drawdown

    ASHDOWN, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers is extending the current drawdown on Millwood Lake until Sept. 2.
  • CORPS EXTENDS CLOSURE OF ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 177 ACROSS NORFORK DAM FOR MAINTENANCE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has extended the closure of one lane of Highway 177 across Norfork Lake, through Aug. 27, to conduct maintenance on the dam’s two power plant penstock gates.
  • LANE CLOSURE FOR BEAVER DAM MAINTENANCE

    ROGERS, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting routine maintenance on Beaver Dam requiring intermittent lane closures of Arkansas State Highway 187, Aug. 12 through Aug. 14.
  • Corps to maintain flows from Lake Okeechobee at current rates

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District plans no changes to current releases of water from Lake Okeechobee. The target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary remains at a seven-day average of 2,800 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam (S-79) located near Fort Myers. The target flow for the St. Lucie Estuary remains at a seven-day average of 650 cfs as measured at St. Lucie Lock & Dam (S-80) near Stuart.
  • HIGHWAY 178 BRIDGE ACROSS BULL SHOALS DAM TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers will close both lanes of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Aug. 18 and Aug. 19 to install equipment needed to refurbish the tainter gates on Bull Shoals Dam.
  • Duval County shore protection project starts soon

    Duval County beach visitors will soon see work on local beaches that will improve the coastal area’s resiliency and reduce risk to infrastructure. The Duval County Shore Protection Project will place roughly 700,000 cubic yards of sand on seven miles of eroded beaches, including Jacksonville, Neptune and a portion of Atlantic Beach.
  • Nashville District recognizes fleet achievements ahead of reorganization

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 18, 2016) – The repair fleet in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, a mainstay of the Twin Rivers since the 1800s when crews first began opening the region’s waterways to navigation onboard canoes, flatboats and keelboats, is marking the end of an era as people and resources are reorganized into a regional light fleet Oct. 1, 2016.
  • Support to Medical Command results in award for Huntsville program manager

    In a room full of his co-workers, one U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Command, Huntsville, program manager received recognition for his support to the U.S. Army Medical Command in the form of the R.B. Maynor Award. This is the first time a USACE employee has received this annual award.
