  • Mississippi River Commission Schedules High-Water Inspection Trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss., April 4, 2018 -- The Mississippi River Commission will conduct the Memphis District portion of its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River April 16-17, 2018. Two public meetings in the Memphis District are scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues. The meeting places, dates and times are as follows: • April 16 9 a.m. New Madrid, Missouri (City Front) • April 17 9 a.m. Memphis, Tennessee (Beale Street Landing)
  • USACE awards additional $140.5 million for power grid restoration efforts in Puerto Rico

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it will provide additional resources to further support emergency power restoration by increasing the value of an existing contract. The additional FEMA funds raise the PowerSecure Inc., contract amount by $140.5 million. The contract was originally awarded October 19, 2017. Additional funds bring the total amount of the contract to $510.6 million and enable continued restoration efforts into May.

  • Fort Pierce shore protection project operations to start soon

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that dredging operations related to the Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project will start mid-April. The project will place 385,000 cubic yards of sand on just under one mile of eroded beach in St. Lucie County. Sand placement will start immediately adjacent to the Fort Pierce Inlet South Jetty and move southward.
