    CORPS CLOSES PINEY BAY SWIM BEACH ON LAKE DARDANELLE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Russellville Site Office has closed Piney Bay swim beach on Lake Dardanelle until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.

    CORPS TO OPEN ONE LANE ACROSS BEAVER DAM PRIOR TO HOLIDAY WEEKEND

    Rogers, Ark. –The section of Arkansas Highway 187 that crosses Beaver Dam is currently closed but one lane of traffic will open beginning Wednesday, May 23 to accommodate travel during the holiday weekend. All Dam Site Lake and River campgrounds and day use parks will be open. Some dam site camping sites may be closed because of high water.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers identifies additional short-term natural disaster recovery activities

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today additional work it will accomplish with funding provided in Public Law 115-123, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, signed into law February 9, 2018. The additional work includes 11 Seattle District levee repair projects totaling approximately $6 million.

    District engineers mentor local high school student sparking interest in engineering

    The Middle East District (MED) Engineering Division staff mentored local high school student Josh Dalton throughout the spring semester of this school year. The Millbrook High School junior, spent every other afternoon at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers headquarters in Winchester. Through the Gifted Independent Study program, Dalton was afforded the opportunity to volunteer intern/shadow Army Corps of Engineers professionals here.

    Public meeting scheduled for proposed Missouri River Emergent Sandbar Habitat project near Washburn, ND

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, 2576 8th Street SW in Washburn, North Dakota, to seek input on the draft environmental assessment for a proposed Emergent Sandbar Habitat (ESH) site within the Missouri River between Garrison and Oahe dams in North Dakota. Comments on the draft EA must be postmarked or received by June 20, 2018.
