    $5.6 million dollar Hurricane Ike repair project to close Skyline Drive

    TEXAS CITY, Texas (January 31, 2019) – Skyline Drive is scheduled to close from February 1 thru June 1, 2019 for repairs as part of a $5.6 million U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Hurricane Flood Protection Project. “Hurricane Ike caused previous erosion and the closure will allow us to safely move heavy equipment and material along the road,” said Jantzen Miller, a USACE Galveston District project manager.

    Corps resets flows to Caloosahatchee Estuary following recent rain

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will target 7-day average flows of 1,000 cubic feet per second from the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79) to the Caloosahatchee Estuary when local basin runoff from recent rains subsides.

    Wallisville Lake Project small game hunting permits available for 2019

    WALLISVILLE, Texas (Jan 31, 2019) – Small game hunting permits are ready for issue. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office staff is now issuing small game hunting permits for the 2019 season as part of the Wildlife Management Program. This is a pilot program to increase public hunting availability at the Wallisville Lake Project.

    Corps announces Duval County shore protection project completion

    The Duval County Shore Protection to restore critically eroded beaches and dunes to their original engineered design is now complete. The project placed roughly 850,000 cubic yards of sand on about 8 miles of eroded beaches, including Jacksonville, Neptune and Atlantic beaches and the southern mile of Hanna Park.

    Automated payment station at Thurmond Lake makes entry easy

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – A new automated payment station at Clarks Hill Park at Thurmond Lake will make it easy for visitors to use credit and debit cards to use the area and other areas at the reservoir. The payment station, similar to other such devices at a number of businesses, will dispense passes allowing use and access at any of the Corps of Engineers operated day-use areas on Thurmond Lake.
