    Army Corps Announces Release of Interim Report for New York and New Jersey Harbor & Tributaries Study

    NEW YORK – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is releasing an Interim Report for the NY & NJ Harbor and Tributaries Study on February 20, 2019. State and city partners that contributed input on the Interim Report include the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the City of New York.

    Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway- Sawpit Dredging Project underway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting maintenance dredging of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) within the Sawpit Reach in Nassau County. The project will remove approximately 600,000 cubic yards of sand from the AIWW, restoring the channel to the authorized depth of 12 feet.

    Chamber valves to be replaced at Great Bridge Lock in Chesapeake

    NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will replace three of eight chamber valves at Great Bridge Lock along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Chesapeake starting today. The $950,000 project is a joint effort by Norfolk District and neighboring Huntington District in West Virginia.

    The Forging of a Partnership

    The common phrase, “throw yourself into the fire” can be construed as having a negative connotation to some folks. However, in the case of Santa Clara Pueblo, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District partnership, this phrase sheds a positive light on how the two parties forged a strong, and mutually beneficial, relationship during, and after, five federally declared national disasters, in the aftermath of two New Mexico wildfires.
