  • LTC John D. Cunningham Assumes Command of San Francisco District

    SAUSALITO -- Leadership of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District changed today when LTC John D. Cunningham was sworn in as the district's 56th commander. At a military ceremony at the Bay Model Visitor Center here, LTC Travis J. Rayfield relinquished command of the district he has led since 2017. Cunningham assumed command after having most recently served as deputy commander of the Portland, Oregon district. He received his U.S. Army commission in 2002 and has served in leadership and staff positions in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Republic of Korea and multiple locations in the United States.

With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at less than 453.0 feet NGVD on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Carlyle Lake Dam is operating as designed, helping reduce flood stages on the Lower Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers. 
  • Outlet Park Beach closed at Melvern Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Melvern Lake announce the immediate closure of Outlet Park Beach due to elevated levels of E. coli bacteria, which could cause health risks. The beach will be closed until further notice and will re-open as soon as E. coli have returned to safe levels. Corps officials will have the water at the beach tested again Sunday, June 30, 2019, to determine whether the beach can be opened for the holiday weekend.
