    Kansas City District hosts fall training for federal contracting professionals

    The Kansas City District Contracting Division hosted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fall Training sessions October 22 - 24 at the Richard Bolling Federal Building in downtown Kansas City, Mo. Members of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command from Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the Construction Division and the Planning, Programs and Project Management Division also participated.

    District participates in Northwest Oil Spill Control Course

    As part of an international cooperation to prepare for a hazardous spill response on Puget Sound, Seattle District participated in the Northwest Oil Spill Control Course hosted by the United States Coast Guard, District 13 August 26-30. Other participants included National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Washington Department of Ecology, BNSF, ExxonMobil and the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Omaha District and The Bureau of Reclamation are notifying the public of the expected hazardous and constantly unstable winter ice condition on Pipestem Reservoir and Jamestown Reservoir in the coming winter months.

    Corps issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River downstream of Van Buren, Arkansas. Overnight rainfall in Oklahoma and western Arkansas have caused flows to rise. Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.
