    Army Corps to close recreation sites across Pennsylvania, southern New York, Maryland, West Virginia in response to COVID-19

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has closed or delayed the opening of Corps-owned and managed recreation sites effective immediately and lasting indefinitely due to the concern for public health and safety of its employees and the visiting public during the COVID-19 pandemic. The closures pertain to visitor centers, beaches, special events, volunteer activities, public meetings, interpretive programs and other public gatherings.

    Kansas City District monitoring anticipated minor flood stages on Missouri River

    The Kansas City District is closely monitoring the current flood risk on the Missouri River from Rulo, Neb., to St. Louis, Mo. Due to widespread rainfall in the Lower Missouri River Basin, the National Weather Service has forecasted several gages in our area to reach minor flood stage along the Missouri River throughout the weekend. The Kansas City District encourages those who live and work along the river to monitor the National Weather Service river forecast frequently for the most up to date information.

    Corps to Receive All Regulatory Submissions Electronically

    In the interest of public health and safety, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will receive all new regulatory permit applications and incoming correspondence submissions electronically. Electronic submissions will ensure continued timely processing of permit applications.

    USACE Buffalo District to put up danger signs in 5 Ohio harbors

    The Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, will be placing various warning signs on Corps’ owned breakwaters and piers in Ashtabula, Conneaut, Fairport, Huron and Lorain Harbor in order to alert the communities about the dangers of traversing on these structures.

    Mississippi River Commission high-water inspection trip and public hearings canceled

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mississippi River Commission (MRC) has canceled its annual high-water inspection trip and public hearings on board the MV Mississippi, which was scheduled for March 29 – April 3, 2020. The health and safety for people is a priority during this critical time in our nation. In order to allow public testimony to still be received by the commission, individual districts will solicit testimony to be filed for the record from stakeholders with an opening date for submission of March 23, 2020, and closing on April 3, 2020.  Additional instructions will be provided with the solicitation.
