Commemorative coins celebrated the completion of the SM-1 prototype reactor at Ft. Belvoir in 1957, a significant event in its time. The key used on March 21, 1973, to turn off the SM-1 reactor at Ft. Belvoir for the final time, a donation of Sgt. Maj. Robert Shakour, a member of the shutdown crew. Commemorative coins celebrated the completion of the SM-1 prototype reactor at Ft. Belvoir in 1957, a significant event in its time.
