    ERDC Environmental Laboratory director inducted into the Senior Executive Service

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) inducted Environmental Laboratory (EL) Director Dr. Edmond Russo into the Senior Executive Service (SES) during a hybrid virtual and in-person ceremony held March 11 at the ERDC-EL building.
  • ERDC invests in future leaders with Emerging Leaders Group

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is home to more than 2,000 professionals across dozens of disciplines and backgrounds, and in order for the organization to be successful, its workforce needs strong leadership. Since 1999, the ERDC has sought to identify and train new leaders through its Emerging Leaders Group (ELG), a three-year program focusing on how to lead people and programs. In 2015, the ERDC Directorate of Human Capital took oversight of the program, which then grew significantly from eight to 25 members each year.

    The USACE Executive Leadership Development Program is the top tier of a three-tier program designed to develop results-oriented leaders with the critical skills needed to lead change in complex environments. Applicants to the yearlong course must be at the GS-13 level or above and are selected based on their potential for continued accomplishments and future success.

    Omaha District recognized with distinguished industry awards

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District received multiple awards from industry stakeholders for performance in construction, small business contracting, safety and public affairs. Receiving these awards is credited to overall teamwork, the culture, and recognition of individuals who have made a significant impact in contributing to the overall success of the USACE mission during fiscal year 2020.

    Future leaders during COVID-19

    The Memphis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is known for executing many different tasks, projects and missions all at the same time. Even when COVID-19 presented itself, this district didn’t stop doing everything it’s normally charged to do. Like many other organizations around the world, the Coronavirus altered how some projects were carried out within the district; this included how the Leadership Development Program (LDP) continued on as well.

    Many people struggle to find or recognize their higher purpose in life. Some never come to understand the significance of the minutes, hours and days that make up their life. Tambour Eller is not one of them. From a young age Eller looked to her mother, who raised her alone, for such answers. What she found was an example of how to face life's daily challenges straight on, with faith that hard work and perseverance would reveal all she needed to know. "She taught me that when the going gets tough, it's tough for everyone – people have different ways of handling it. But every day, you get up, be thankful and get to work because you are a part of a larger plan – God's plan."
