    District Completes Critical Project 6 Months Ahead of Original Schedule

    A ribbon cutting ceremony held on February 20th marked the completion of a new $49.6 million steel and concrete pier project at the U.S. Navy base in Bahrain. The pier, built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District, will enhance the Navy’s operational readiness in the region. Previously, the Navy had been using barges for much of the work on ships that can now be done while docked at the pier.

    Army Corps of Engineers complete University of Kandahar Law Library

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently handed over the keys to a new law library at the University of Kandahar in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The project, which began in late 2012, will offer students and scholars a first rate facility in which to study Afghanistan’s legal codes. The Kandahar Law Library is another example of USACE and U.S. Force - Afghanistan partnering efforts to build capacity in all fields through support of the Kandahar University and its various departments.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District has been working with the State Department's Office of Defense Cooperation-Lebanon to assist with planning efforts for various military sites for the Lebanese Armed Forces.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District (TAM) awarded a contract for Falcon 5/F-15QA beddown support facilities in the State of Qatar. Contract number W912ER20C0010 was awarded May 22, to the joint venture of Bahadir Construction Engineering Contracting and Trading Company and Impresa Construzioni Giuseppe Maltauro S.p.A. The contract award amount was $524,416,900.
