    The Republic of Korea -U.S. Alliance Friendship Association presented Col. Bryan S. Green, commander and district engineer, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District, with a Korean name at a ceremony at the Korea Ministry of National Defense club Dec. 3.

    Far East District commander given honorary Korean name

    The Republic of Korea -U.S. Alliance Friendship Association presented Col. Bryan S. Green, commander and district engineer, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District, with a Korean name at a ceremony at the Korea Ministry of National Defense club Dec. 3. Green was conferred the name Pak Geon-taek, a name with very symbolic meaning and significance, according to Suh Jin-sup, association chairman.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District hosted the 28th Korean Ministry of National Defense Exchange Program March 25-April 12. Throughout the course, the Korean engineers visited various branches of the district including Construction Division, Engineering Division, Korea Program Relocation Office, Contracting Division, Safety and Occupational Health Office, and Humphreys Area Office.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Far East District hosted the 28th Korean Ministry of National Defense Exchange Program March 25-April 12. The program started in 1985 to train military and civilian engineers from the defense ministry on design, project management, contracting, and construction processes of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Bostick was given the honorific Korean name Park Bo-taek by the association during his visit to the Republic of Korea, where he met with U.S. and Korean military officials and toured the multi-billion dollar construction project at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, about 40 miles south of Seoul. The Corps of Engineers has about 37,600 military and civilian personnel providing project management and construction support in more than 100 countries.

    Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers receives Korean name

    Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and 53rd U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, was conferred with a Korean name July 16, 2012 during a ceremony at the Korea Ministry of National Defense.
