    Corps moves into 22nd year of cleanup on tribal land in Southeast Alaska

    Nestled 20 miles south of Ketchikan, Alaska, the Metlakatla Indian Community resides on Annette Island.  The tribe opted out of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act when Congress passed the legislation in 1971.  Today the Annette Islands Reserve is the only Native American reservation in the state and the tribe lives among the remnants of past military and federal use of the land. Through the Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District and the Metlakatla Indian Community are working together to continue environmental cleanup efforts for the 22nd year.
  • Corps hosts meeting with the Delaware Nation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District hosted its first ever face-to-face meeting with a federally recognized Native American tribe on Dec. 4 at the district's headquarters in Baltimore. USACE met with the Delaware Nation, one of the country's longest standing Native American Tribes, to discuss a Corps project that could potentially impact what were historically tribal lands.

    ACOMA PUEBLO, N.M.-- Albuquerque District and Acoma Pueblo entered into a watershed cost share agreement recently under the Section 203 Tribal Partnership Program.

    USACE approves first Native American commercial wetland mitigation bank in U.S. with Lummi Nation

    Federal agencies worked together with the Lummi Nation to establish the first federally authorized Native American sponsored commercial wetland and habitat mitigation bank in the nation.
