Congress allocated a hefty $8.681 billion for the Army Civil Works Program, spreading across various crucial areas like Investigations, Construction, Operation and Maintenance, Mississippi River and Tributaries, and Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program.

The total FY24 budget, to include the Conferenced Budget and Work Plan, exceeds $226.2 million, paving the way for significant environmental, navigation, and civil works improvements across the Buffalo District area of responsibility.

  • Detroit District infrastructure grows $104 million stronger from FY23 Work Plan

    DETROIT – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is receiving $37 million in the Fiscal Year 2023 Work Plan for operations and maintenance (O&M) of Detroit District river and harbor projects, $67 million for construction projects and $370 thousand to conduct investigations. The FY23 Work Plan funding is in addition to the $127 million in the FY23 Appropriation Bill and $254 million in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding allocated in FY23. “This is an exciting opportunity for the Detroit District team to provide solutions to our regional infrastructure,” said Detroit District Commander Lt. Col. Brett Boyle. “Repairing, maintaining and improving our federal harbors and infrastructure is essential to bring resiliency to our communities, our economy and the environment. I know the Detroit District team and our partners are ready to deliver these historic investments!"

  • Great Lakes’ infrastructure grows $31.5 million stronger from Work Plan, Consolidated Appropriations Act

    DETROIT- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is receiving nearly $26.7 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 Work Plan for operations and maintenance of Michigan river and harbor projects. The FY22 Work Plan funding is in addition to the $4.8 million from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, $117.2 million of FY22 President’s Budget and $561 million of FY22 funding from the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act. “This is exciting for the Detroit District to be able to provide engineering solutions to Great Lakes region infrastructure with these historic investments,” said Detroit District Commander Lt. Col. Scott Katalenich. “It will be challenging, especially with today’s unprecedented global supply chain disruptions and workforce challenges, but repairing, maintaining, and improving our harbors and federal navigation channels is essential to the economic strength of our Nation.”

The work plan includes more than $97 million additional funding for Seattle District projects, including: • Grays Harbor - $2,750,000 • Lake Washington Ship Canal - $18,784,000 • Seattle Harbor (Harbor Donor and Energy Transfer Port Payment) - $2,782,000 • Tacoma Harbor (Harbor Donor and Energy Transfer Port Payment) - $2,744,000 • Puget Sound Nearshore Marine Habitat Restoration - $2,563,000 • Albeni Falls Dam Fish Passage - $68,100,000
