Waiting in the wings: A history of Little Goose Lock and Dam

By 1962, Ice Harbor Lock and Dam had been built and construction of the second lower Snake River dam, Lower Monumental, was being passed to the US Army Corps of Engineers Seattle District. The third dam in the queue was right on the heels of Lower Monumental, but construction could not begin until the details of its downstream neighbor were determined.

20-055 Corps issues revised Project Master Plans for Little Goose and Lower Monumental

SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District has issued revised Master Plans for the Lower Monumental and Little Goose Projects. Each Master Plan includes a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and an Environmental Assessment (EA). The Master Plans were updated because the original Master Plans were more than 50 years old and there have been changes in policy and management strategies over that time.

Lake Bryan returns to normal operating levels; Corps encourages Illia Dunes habitat stewardship POMEROY, Wash. – Water elevation at Lake Bryan, the reservoir upstream of Little Goose Lock and Dam on the Snake River, has returned to normal operating levels, leaving Illia Dunes with no beach access, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials at the Walla Walla District.
