  • The Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) hosts GEMS camp

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) recently held a Gains in Education in Mathematics & Science (GEMS) camp. The program is part of the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP), which exposes young people to career paths in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and which offers many options ranging from middle school to graduate studies. Traditionally, CERL hosts a middle school and a high school GEMS camp each summer.

    Beginning Nov. 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close all primitive camping areas for the season at The Dalles and John Day dams. These closures are part of a new camping policy the Corps is implementing this year.

  • Camp for Free: Summer Volunteers Needed at Lake Red Rock

    Spend the summer camping at Lake Red Rock for free! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide a free, full-hookup campsite to volunteers willing to provide custodial service at: North Overlook beach, Whitebreast beach, Whitebreast campground and Wallashuck campground. Volunteers are needed from late April through September 2014.   • Corps closes several campsites at Blackhawk Park due to flooding

    ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will only be able to offer limited camping at Blackhawk Park, located near De Soto, Wis., this weekend, May 31 through June 2, due to minor flooding and extremely wet conditions.
  • Eau Galle campground reopening in time for Memorial Day weekend

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is reopening its Highland Ridge Campground at the Eau Galle Dam and Recreation Site, located in Spring Valley, Wis., tomorrow, May 23. The campground was closed the first week of May after the park received more than 14 inches of heavy snowfall that resulted in extensive tree damage.
