  • Road across Gavins Point Dam closed May 22-25

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed 8 a.m. Monday, May 22 through 5 p.m. Thursday, May 25 to perform maintenance on the spillway. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.

    Non-resident boaters that launch vessels in Nebraska waters below Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD are reminded they will need a Nebraska Aquatic Invasive Species Stamp before entering the water.

    For the second year there will be no eagle at Bald Eagle Days at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton, SD. Programs scheduled for Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19 will go on with other birds of prey.

    Bald Eagle Days, a free public event sponsored by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton, SD, has been rescheduled to Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19.
  • Hunters reminded of tree stand removal deadline at the Gavins Point Project

    Hunters who placed tree stands on U. S. Army Corps of Engineers lands at Gavins Point Project near Yankton, SD are reminded that stands must be removed no later than Wednesday, February 15. Stands not removed may result in impoundment or citations.
  • Training Dike boat ramp closed immediately

    The Training Dike Boat Ramp, on the north side of the Missouri River just below Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will be closed effective immediately until further notice for repair and maintenance.
  • Gavins Point Visitor Center Closed Oct 1, 2

    The Lewis and Clark Center, located atop Calumet Bluff, just downstream from the Gavins Point power plant, will be closed Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2.
  • Invasive Tree Removal to take place below Gavins Point Dam

    Beginning Monday Sept. 26 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Gavins Point Project, will conduct noxious tree removal via a licensed contractor around Lake Yankton, located below Gavins Point Dam. Some areas and trails around Lake Yankton may be temporarily closed for visitor safety. The public is asked to obey all signs, avoid closed areas and to keep away from equipment and workers during this time.
  • Cottonwood Campground closes for season Oct. 17

    Cottonwood Campground, on the north side of the Missouri River just below Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will close for the season on Monday, October 17 and will remain closed until April 20, 2017.
