  • USACE, Buffalo District to host groundbreaking for seawall repairs at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park

    The Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District will host a ceremonial groundbreaking event and media site tour, Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Col. Ward Pump Station, by the water, at 2 Porter Ave., Buffalo, NY 14201. The ceremony celebrates the start of repairs to over 1,300 feet of the seawall at the northern section of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, which has deteriorated over time due to Lake Erie ice and wave action.

    The Leadership Development Program (LDP) was created to ensure all Buffalo District employees have the chance to develop and refine strong leadership skills. The goal of the program is to develop results oriented, agile leaders with broad perspectives who lead people and lead change successfully in complex environments.

  • USACE Buffalo District to put up danger signs in 5 Ohio harbors

    The Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, will be placing various warning signs on Corps’ owned breakwaters and piers in Ashtabula, Conneaut, Fairport, Huron and Lorain Harbor in order to alert the communities about the dangers of traversing on these structures.

  • USACE Buffalo District substantially completes Stanford Run ecosystem restoration project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District (USACE) substantially completed the Stanford Run ecosystem restoration project located within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) in Summit County, Ohio, in early January 2020. The Buffalo District restored nearly 1,200 feet of a small stream within CVNP named Stanford Run under the original Stanford Run Restoration Project contract awarded to Ryba Marine Construction Co. The District also awarded a second, follow-on contract to Armitage Architecture, P.C. at the end of September 2019 to continue restoration on the channel, which restored an additional 1,000 lineal feet.

  • Investing in Infrastructure

    The Buffalo North Breakwater structure located at the entrance into Buffalo Harbor is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District and is critical to the Great Lakes Navigation System. The structure serves to protect the northerly entrance into the Buffalo Harbor, the entrance into the Black Rock Canal and the downtown waterfront from powerful natural forces such as storm surges, large waves and ice.

  • USACE Buffalo District’s Stow Field Office has a new location

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District Regulatory Stow Field Office has relocated to 3869 Darrow Road, Suite 100, in the City of Stow, Summit County, Ohio. The new office is open as of October 15, 2019. The previous office at 1100 Graham Road Circle, in the City of Stow, Ohio has been closed. All future mail for Stow should be directed to the new address, or be sent to the Buffalo District office-Regulatory Branch at 1776 Niagara Street, Buffalo, NY 14207, or LRB.Regulatory@usace.army.mil Phone inquiries can be made to 716-879-4330.

  • The Corps of Engineers awards Lorain Breakwater repair contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District is excited to announce a $2.1 million contract for repairs to the Lorain breakwater, located in Lake Erie in the Port of Lorain, Lorain County, Ohio.

  • Buffalo District Regulatory biologist participates in National Strong Leaders Program

    Buffalo District’s own Regulatory biologist, Peter Krakowiak was selected for the inaugural class of the Regulatory Strong Leaders Program (SLP), created to help develop future leaders within the Regulatory Program by providing a broad approach to effective leadership.

  • Travel advisory, ground breaking planned as Athol Springs project begins

    Beginning on Wednesday, September 18, NY Route 5 westbound (outbound) will be reduced to one lane between Big Tree Road and Seabreeze Avenue, to begin work on the Athol Springs project, and is scheduled to remain in place for the remainder of the 2019 construction season.
