The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a national emergency response exercise at Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia from June 11-14. The ‘Northeast Express’ exercise will simulate USACE response activities to a Category 3 hurricane affecting the Delaware Bay area.

Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove not part of proposed dredging project at Lake Worth Inlet
Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove are two of 10 proposed locations for sea grass and hardbottom mitigation due to impacts of the proposed widening and deepening of the Port of Palm Beach. Dredging of Turtle Cove is neither part of the proposed project nor part of the mitigation plan.

Corps of Engineers begins post-Sandy comprehensive study of North Atlantic coast
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – As directed by Congress with the passage of the Disaster Relief Appropriation Act of 2013, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers scientists and engineers launched a collaborative study May 28 to determine how best to reduce flood and storm damage risks for people and communities along the North Atlantic coast.

The event generated awareness and provided information about the value of the environment, long term sustainability of the planet, and its current environmental status.

Middle East District awards flight simulator facility at Al Mubarak Air Base, Kuwait
WINCHESTER, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a contract for the design and construction of a flight simulator training center for the Kuwait Air Force at Al Mubarak Air Base, Kuwait, on March 12. The award went to CAE USA Inc. of Tampa, Fla., for $18.1 million.
