  • NR 17-012: Cookeville workshop to address state’s need for firewood producers

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 4, 2017) — An alliance of state, federal and non-governmental partners are hosting a free public workshop 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at the Leslie Town Centre in Cookeville, Tenn., that will show participants how to develop their own small businesses to sell heat-treated firewood to fill increasing demand at campgrounds in Tennessee.

(April 20, 2017) – An engineering and construction trio from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District recently returned home from Iraq where they helped oversee construction projects at Mosul Dam, forged goodwill with the international repair team, and even supported the military operation to retake the city of Mosul.

  • Oyster restoration resumes in Tred Avon River sanctuary

    The Baltimore District along with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Oyster Recovery Partnership resumed oyster restoration on approximately 10 acres in the Tred Avon River sanctuary, April 18, 2017. This restoration effort was included as an option as part of an approximately $ 1-million contract awarded Sept. 26, 2016, to Blue Forge LLC that entailed the restoration of eight acres of mixed-shell reef in the Tred Avon.

  • NR 17-009: Dale Hollow Dam Road closing for scheduled maintenance

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 14, 2017) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces Dale Hollow Dam Road at the dam in Celina, Tenn., is closing 8 a.m. April 25 through 4 p.m. April 28, 2017 due to scheduled maintenance to inspect the spillway gates and trunnions.

  • Parents ‘show and tell’ on ‘Take Your Kids to Work Day’

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 14, 2017) – Excited youngsters eagerly donned life jackets today for the chance to learn about navigation and water safety on board several Corps of Engineers boats docked on the Cumberland River at Music City’s Riverfront. Throughout the day they participated in lots of fun activities, learned about Nashville District operations and missions, and their parents did a lot of “show and tell” on “Take Your Kids to Work Day.”
