    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District today announced it will close its Regulatory offices due to the absence of available federal funding. Regulatory offices will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, Pre-Construction Notifications for Nationwide Permit or Regional General Permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations until after current year funding is received and the offices reopen.

  • NR 13-043: Walleye in Center Hill Lake threatened by low dissolved oxygen levels

    LANCASTER, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2013) – Over the past few weeks several dead walleye have been observed at Center Hill Lake. Walleye prefer a cool-water habitat, which means they are usually located fairly deep in the lake this time of year. This year the dissolved oxygen levels in this zone are very low. Data collected yesterday indicated that the only area deeper than about 35 feet that contains any oxygen is a zone between depths of 60-to-90 feet, and even there the levels are quite low.
  • Tulsa District boat ramps available during 2013 government shutdown

    The shutdown of the federal government for lack of fiscal 2014 funding has caused the closure of Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds and day-use areas. Affected recreation areas will not reopen until after the shutdown lifts. Some USACE-operated campgrounds and day-use parks may remain open during the shutdown if visitor service requirements can be met, and the public’s safety can be assured. Some boat ramps within the Tulsa District are open.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will close all of its campgrounds and day-use parks at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The district previously announced it intended to keep these areas open as long as possible. However, support to recreation areas can no longer be sustained as the district progresses through its orderly shutdown.

    The Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-operated campgrounds and day-use parks are closed due to the shutdown of the federal government for lack of fiscal 2014 funding. Affected recreation areas will not reopen until after the shutdown lifts.
  • 13-042: Nashville District gives contractors delivery instructions during shutdown

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 3, 2013) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District requests all contractors awarded a contract with a delivery date or service performance date during the government shutdown to contact the receiving location to make arrangements for the delivery. Contractors are expected to execute all contracts as written. Deviations to contract can only be granted by the contracting officer.

  • Corps to hold meeting on resumption of Sepulveda vegetative management work

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has scheduled an informal public information meeting Monday, Oct. 7, at 7:00 p.m., at the Balboa Sports Complex in Encino to discuss resumption of operations and maintenance work in a 48-acre area south of Burbank Boulevard at Sepulveda Dam Flood Control Basin this fall.
  • Raystown Lake announces access roads openings, hunting stand rules

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake will open select access roads to accommodate various upcoming hunting seasons. Unannounced closures of gated roads are possible due to weather, road conditions or special activities such as logging operations.
