(July 11, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District collaborated with the Tennessee State University Engineering Department to mentor science, technology, engineering and math students during a four-week National Summer Transportation Institute program June 9 through July 7, 2013.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn., (June 5, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District has announced that lockages of commercial and pleasure craft on the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers will now adhere to normal hours of operation due to sequestration.

  • NR 13-018: Corps now accepting registration applications for Old Hickory Lock, Dam tours

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (June 4, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at Old Hickory Lake is now accepting registration applications for the Saturday, June 29 open house tours beginning at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Old Hickory Lock and Dam. Free to the public and approximately 60 minutes in length, the guided tours will allow guests to have an up close view of Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse facilities.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 17, 2013) -- Although creation of the Tennessee Valley Authority by Congressional Act on May 18, 1933 relieved the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of most of its role in developing the economic potential of the Tennessee River and its tributaries, the Corps retained a development and operational role on the Cumberland River and its tributaries.

  • NR 13-017: Old Hickory Lake opens its doors to tours of Old Hickory Lock, Dam

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (May 15, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Old Hickory Lake is offering free guided public tours of the Old Hickory Lake’s Navigation Lock and Powerhouse 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday May 25, June 29, July 20, Aug. 10 and Aug. 25. The tours are approximately one hour in length.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 10, 2013) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District produces about $40 million annual revenue by converting water’s energy into 3.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 28 generators at its nine Hydropower Plants in the Cumberland River Basin.
