• Garrison powerhouse summer tour schedule updated

    Walk-in tours of the Garrison Dam will be available from June 5 through August 2. Tours will be held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 2 p.m., Central Daylight Time. Due to increased security, visitors for powerhouse tours should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the tour and visitors over 18 years old must show a government issued photo ID. Scheduled tours are also available by calling (701) 654-7411.

    Vicksburg, Miss… The Vicksburg District of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is promoting the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to students in local junior high and high schools during the annual Engineering Week (E-Week). This year, E-Week is being celebrated February 16-22, although activities at the District began about two weeks in advance. A math competition was held at the District with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from Porters Chapel Academy, St. Francis and St. Aloysius Catholic schools, Vicksburg and Warren Central Junior High schools.

  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closed for Polar Plunge

    CARLYLE LAKE – The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge is being held at Carlyle Lake on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Dam West Day Use Area. In order to accommodate the Polar Plunge activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will be closed to the general public from Friday, February 21st at noon through Saturday, February 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The closest available boat ramps to Dam West are the Allen Branch Boat Ramp and the Apache Boat Ramp located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp which will be available to the general public during this period.

This year’s theme “A River Runs Through It,” will focus on the important roles of the Kaskaskia River and the Kaskaskia Watershed.
