  • Corps of Engineers to close Devils Lake, N.D., office

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is closing its doors at its Devils Lake, N.D., field office Sept. 30.

    The Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety Office reports that accidental drowning at area lakes and inspection deficiencies within the district’s military construction sites are down from this time last year.
  • Rivers Project Canal Access Area Closure

    The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, is announcing the temporary closure of the Canal Access Area in Granite City, IL. This access area will be closed from October 3, 2014 at 7 p.m. until October 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. for the Lewis and Clark Frontier Dog Walk and Picnic.   • Rivers Project Two Rivers South Access Area Closure

    The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, is announcing the temporary closure of the Two Rivers South Access Area in Rockport, IL. This access area will be closed from October 1-31, 2014 for dredging. Boats wishing to launch in this section of the river should use Two Rivers North Access Area to the north or Gosline Access Area to the south.
  • Army Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 27

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will waive day use fees at its more than 2,200 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 27. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Missouri River Basin Water Management Division will begin using the Oahe Dam outlet tunnels to supplement powerhouse releases of stored flood water starting Wednesday, Sept. 24.
  • Army Corps Conducts Inspection of New York Harbor with Partners

    During September 2014, the Army Corps’ New York District conducted a harbor inspection which provided the venue and platform afloat for a forum with agency heads, civic leaders from municipal, state, and federal agencies to exchange ideas and dialogue about past, present and future efforts along the waterfront. Aboard the Army Corps’ vessel MV Hayward, various Corps representatives and partners reviewed accomplishments, convened discussions about future partnering, restoration activities, water navigation, deepening the federal channels, operations and maintenance and waterfront planning.
