  • GIWW, Galveston Causeway underwater demolition and debris removal update

    GALVESTON, Texas (Aug. 4, 2016) – Construction to remove underwater demolition and debris from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) and Galveston Causeway that began earlier this week will cause a temporary closure of the waterway located at the intersection of the GIWW, the Galveston Causeway (Interstate 45) and the associated railroad trestle bridge.
  • Beach Closures at Sardis Lake

    Sardis , MS… . Due to low water conditions, swimming areas on the Lower Lake will be closed beginning August 4, 2016. Boating access will still be allowed on the Lower Lake, however, boaters are reminded to use caution during low water conditions. The water level in the Lower Lake has dropped over three feet since drawdown began on Monday, July 25.

  • Corps, Partners celebrate 30 year anniversary for Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The Rock Island, St. Paul, and St. Louis Districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along with their partners, will host a ceremony Aug. 8 at 4:30 p.m. to commemorate 30 years of service for the Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program. The ceremony will take place at Riverside Park, adjacent to the Radisson Hotel in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
  • Dredging of Oceanside Harbor continues

    Navigational dredging within Oceanside Harbor continued this week with the contractor, CJW Construction, removing nearly 10,000 cubic yards of material from the harbor’s entrance channels from July 28 to August 3.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District plans to maintain flows from Lake Okeechobee at current rates over the next week. The target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary remains at a seven-day average of 2,800 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam (S-79) located near Fort Myers. The target flow for the St. Lucie Estuary remains at a seven-day average of 650 cfs as measured at St. Lucie Lock & Dam (S-80) near Stuart.
