    Corps awards $4.675 million maintenance dredging contract for Arecibo Harbor in Puerto Rico

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a $4.675 million contract Jan. 14, 2020 to Weeks Marine, Inc., for the Arecibo Harbor maintenance dredging in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Weeks Marine, of Covington, Louisiana, will be responsible for dredging approximately 110,000 cubic yards of shoal material from the Arecibo Harbor

    Corps crane operators complete crane proficiency training

    GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (Feb 3, 2020) – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, Operations Division personnel recently completed required 100-ton Crane Proficiency Certification training at Barkley Lock. All the employees currently have completed 50-ton certifications and operate cranes around the district.

    Draft Programmatic EA for PL 84-99 levee repairs available for comment

    A draft programmatic environmental assessment to evaluate the impacts of implementing structural repairs, under Public Law 84-99, to levees damaged during devastating flooding in March 2019 is currently available for review. Comments on the draft programmatic EA must be postmarked or received by March 4, 2020.

    Robotics contract improves military range operations

    The contract leverages the joint capabilities of Dawson Services of Honolulu, Hawaii and Zapata Engineering of Charlotte, North Carolina, to provide a mix of government-furnished, remotely operated robotic equipment on military training ranges where the presence of unexploded ordnance makes it dangerous for work crews to perform the same work.

    Today marks the release of the State of the Infrastructure: A Joint Report by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This report provides a high-level overview of the infrastructure asset portfolio and related asset management practices, collaboration efforts, and future strategies. Our work is part of the broader effort at all levels of government to manage the Nation’s water resources in a responsible manner.

    Keeping the river open for business

    The Memphis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently completed another important Mississippi River project located just across the Mississippi River from New Madrid, Missouri. The stone dike construction project, named Kentucky Point, Kentucky, was designed to assist in maintaining a safe and reliable navigation channel for commercial towboats in the Mississippi River. It also directly supports the Mississippi River Channel Improvement navigation mission.
