    Clarkston, Wash. – The park hours at Swallows Park, Chestnut Beach, and the restrooms at the Greenbelt Boat Ramp in Clarkston, Wash., as well as the Confluence parking area of the Lewiston Levee Parkway in Lewiston, Idaho, will switch to winter hours on Oct. 1.

    "The day I met Mr. Williams, I was looking for his house and drove past it because I didn't see it; all I saw were trees," Roofing Quality Assurance Specialist George Hayes recalled. "Honestly, I wasn't expecting anyone to be home. So many folks evacuated after the storm, I just figured no one was home. As I got closer to the door, I heard his little dog bark. I yelled, "Is anyone home?" and I saw a movement through the window. The door opened, and he drove his wheelchair out onto the front porch. My heart just sank." At that moment, Hayes knew he needed to go above and beyond to help this man.
  • East Tailrace boat ramp closed Tuesday for repairs

    RIVERDALE, N.D. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that East Tailrace boat ramp at Garrison Dam on the Missouri River will be temporarily closed Tuesday from 11:00am to 3:00pm to conduct repairs to the boat ramp. No releases are scheduled during this time frame. The ramp will reopen to the public at 3:00pm.

  • Corps announces temporary closure of north jetty ahead of construction repairs

    CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas– The Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded an Option/additional work in the amount of $8,860,090 on Sept. 3, for additional areas of repair on the North Jetty under the Corpus Christi Ship Channel - Entrance Channel Jetty Repairs contract. This additional awarded work increased the jetty repair contract to $48.3 million. The additional work area will require temporary closure of the north jetty beginning on Oct. 5.
