The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that Crest Road, which crosses Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will be closed Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for maintenance. People are asked to take an alternate route during the closure.

An old Dallas icon sacrifices itself to make way for Flood Risk Management Projects in the Dallas Floodway
The modification of the abandoned AT&SF Railroad Bridge was identified as a potential measure due to its impact to the Standard Project Flood water surface profile, its location at the downstream end of the Dallas Floodway Project, and the fact that the bridge is no longer needed for rail traffic.

Gavins Point releases increased slightly ahead of colder temperatures
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers increased Gavins Point releases from 17,000 cubic feet per second to 19,000 cfs at noon Friday. The National Weather Service’s forecast indicates the lower Missouri River basin will experience extreme cold temperatures for the next 7-10 days. The much colder temperatures have the potential to cause or excaserbate ice formation on tributaries and the mainstem of the lower Missouri River.

Corps seeks input on revised Coralville Lake Water Control Plan, plans virtual open house events
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District is finalizing the Coralville Lake Water Control Plan and is seeking public input. Two virtual open house events will be hosted to offer a question and answer opportunity for the public and gather feedback about the updated plan. The first virtual event will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. and the second will be Thursday, March 4, at 5 p.m.

When this happens, a cost estimate is needed to determine how much money it would take to either repair or replace the structure in question.
